7 Treasure Trove Tips To Creating A Belief & Vision Board

Hello Mermaid Junkies,

If you’ve recently started following my blog or my youtube channel Mermaid Junkie TV You know I base all of my practices on Abraham Hicks.

I have been using a Vision board, or what I now call a Belief board for over 13 years. Until learning of Abraham and the practices, I never understood why many of my visions weren’t manifesting. Now, I fully know and understand where the gap was, and I’m excited to share it with you. In case you’ve ever wondered why your boards weren’t working, I’ll inspire you to begin getting what you want and explain in detail how to manifest your dreams and desires.

Who is Abraham Hicks?

Abraham is considered one of the most revered sources for anything pertaining to the Law of Attraction and manifesting dreams.  Abraham is a group of consciousness from the non-physical dimension translated by and communicates directly through Esther Hicks. Esther Hicks is an inspirational speaker who travels all over the world sharing the wisdom channeled from Abraham, together they appeared in the world famous movie The Secret.

The Secret’s original teachings are actually all based on Abraham. However, Abraham (Esther Hicks) never gets the credit deserved for The Secret’s success. So as much as, The Secret has inspired millions, I give all my credit to the original source which is Abraham (Esther & Jerry Hicks).

Abraham Hicks sums up the how The Law of Attraction works, and the missing piece that keeps most people from actually getting this Universal Law to work for them: (Below is actually Abraham speaking through Esther explaining the Law of Attraction).

“There are three steps in the Creative Process. The first step is:

The first step is: Ask for what you want. You can ask with your words, but your asking is really happening on a vibrational level.

The second step is: Answer the request. That’s not your job; that is the job of Source Energy and Universal Forces. Law of Attraction (That which is like unto itself is drawn.) is the manager of that. But that answer always comes, and it always comes swiftly and accurately and precisely, and fully in the moment of your asking.

“When you ask, it is always given, now,” surprises many people, because they say, “Can’t be right. I know, I’ve been asking, and my stuff has not shown up yet.” And we say, that’s because you are unaware of your job in the third step.

And the third step is: You must be in the receiving mode of what you’re asking for. You have to be a vibrational match to your own desire, or, in this vibrationally based Universe, you’re not letting it in. Usually, the asking is born where your vibration is not pure. So, in the middle of the asking, you are rarely in the receiving mode.

We think the thing that confuses so many of you, is that you think you are asking with your words, and when you ask with your words, if the answer is coming, it should come right now, and it should be in a form that you could recognize. And when it doesn’t come right now, in the middle of your asking, you assume that something has gone wrong. And we say, nothing is wrong. You’re just in step one. When you get in step three, you’ll let it in.”

The difference between a Belief and a Vision. Many times, desires and beliefs don’t match up vibrationally. We must remember that like attracts like. So our job as manifestors, is we need to blend them together. That’s what expectation is.

So now that I’ve explained the differences, let’s get started!

7 Treasure Trove Tips To Creating A Belief & Vision Board:

  • Getting started: I began my board with A Mermaid Manifestation Affirmation for the year. Each year I create one, as I’ve had my vision board for so long, I change and add things throughout out the calendar years. This year for 2017 mine is:

Dear Universe

You know what I want, you know who

I am and how I want to live, you know what my future holds,

and lighted what I have been offering.

I am ready to let in as much as you can accommodate now.

I love you and appreciate the way you are constantly loving me.

Thank you in advance.

Love, Raquel

  • After you have written your Affirmation it’s time to start with the fun stuff. Begin by collecting things. Cut out pictures from magazines you love. Cut out words that speak to you, quotes, affirmations, poems, art, scrapbooked items, ephemera etc. Always pay attention to what you are feeling in the moment of creating your board. Be authentic and only put on your board what feels true to you.

  • Picture of yourself. You can either find a photo that you love of yourself, when you look at this particular photo you feel happiest with yourself. It doesn’t have to be a new one, but it should represent a time when you felt most joy and happiness in your life. You only want to feel the great energy when looking at photos of yourself. If you have a polaroid camera, you could take a little selfie, then it’s all ready to go. I have a little Instax mini 7, and If I can’t seem to find a photo from a magazine, I’ve been known to snap a polaroid of it from the computer or Pinterest. Then I have all my visions up on the board instantly.

  • Clarity- Now this step you don’t have to do, but I do like it when my board looks clean to a certain degree. I don’t like my photos overlapping too much or have my board all jumbled feeling. You want to leave space for all things energetically to come into your life. Focus your mind on your desires and your worthiness of them.
  • Be specific with your desires. Unless you feel a sense of wobble in your vibration, you might want to stay more general, until your desires become stable. What I mean here is, I am very specific about what I want. Many people creating boards say to be general. I am quite the opposite. I think the more specific the better. The universe only hears what you mean, not what you say. So I say be as specific as you’d like. Here’s an example: Do you have the desire to live on the beach? Is the image of a beach cottage, an estate, a mansion? What would you rather live in on the beach? I am specific when I’m putting out my beliefs. Try to stay open to all options. The Universe has the best and highest in store for you. Seek the joy of the ‘thing’ and the Universe will give you even more than you were able to remember. The Universe still has all of our desires in our Vortex escrow. We have most likely forgotten many of our desires throughout our lifetime, but Source/God has not.
  • Create a manifestation space. After collecting, creatively display your items, such as your vision board, focus wheels, crystals, mandalas, art, candles, affirmational quotes and all pretty things that make you happy on a beautiful antique table or a dresser, or an altar of some sort. Be creative. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, but make it peaceful and a place you enjoy spending time in. When I lived in my little apartment, I had a small closet that I converted into a little meditation area. It was the only extra space I had to use, but it was perfect for me at the time. Think outside of the box.
  • Visualize. I spend my time visualizing and it’s mostly right after I’ve meditated. Visualize for as long as it feels good.
  • Let it go. After you’ve done all of these things, in order for them to work, you have to TRUST the Universe has already brought your desires into fruition. Imagine sending them out into the ocean, releasing them to Source, knowing they will come back to you. Having no doubts whatsoever.

There you have it!

This was a long post but I feel it has oodles of beautiful content for you to be a powerful creator and manifesting your dreams and desires!

Yours til my next swim, R

The Week Before Yule

Good Morning darlings,

The fall has come and in less than two weeks it’ll be Yule. I am tickled pink to share this Christmas holiday with Oliver and my BG. Last year I was spending the time with my children in Oklahoma, which was lovely in itself too. I do look forward to having all my children visit me here on the coast, perhaps next year. That’ll be a dream.

This is a little picture I painted for our holiday card. It turned out adorable. The inside caption says,”Merry kisses and Christmas wishes. Love, The Stafford’s” I love it so…

It’s so interesting to me that when I was raising all of my children I had so many traditions and carried on with all of them. Things in my life now are so much simpler. I find having a lovely fresh Frazier fir, a few handmade ornaments, a few strands of lights, some balsam pine candles and I’m as pleased as punch.

I think that one of the reasons for all of the bells and whistles that I used to have to have, was truthfully because I was trying to fill gaps that were lacking in my life.

You know what else is interesting? I see that in so many women nowadays. If I could just cradle them and chat with them, telling them life isn’t about “STUFF” or staying so busy. I used to be that woman that would catch onto all those pyramid businesses, like selling candles, cosmetics, pampered chef parties, etc. you name it… I was staying absorbed in it all. That’s not even considering all the volunteering I did. Now, I’m not one to say that I don’t like to serve and be kind in that way, but I know that where my heart was in doing the acts of service weren’t where I should’ve been. I believe too many women extend themselves way beyond their capabilities. All in the name of trying to earn a sense of self-love and acceptance. When the acceptance we are internally really reaching for is our own acceptance. We truly come from a conditioned society of feeling the need to earn our existence. I really believe that if women had more self-love and confidence we wouldn’t have so much depression and stress among women.

I do also realize that I was on my own journey too back then {still am} and we all learn from our own life experiences, not words.

I find that really loving the act to serve out of the sheer joy of it, is the way to go. If we have a guilt, feeling of having to, feeling sorry for, obligation, we should not do anything under the guise of these feelings. It’s all in vain anyway, if you ask me. I say that because what happened to me is that I started to resent people and any kind of act, even down to doing things for my husband, children and parents.

My rule of thumb now is… I ask myself, do I really want to do this? Am I doing it because I really want to, and am I doing it for the sheer joy of it? If those are a ‘Yes’ I’m all aboard!

I happy as a clam for you each swimming by to say hello and spend a little time with me today. I also wish you a lovely Christmas and a most beautiful New Year!

I personally cannot wait! Everyday is truly a gift and I have a whole treasure chest full of them!

I love you each so very much.

A Lovely December

Good Morning Shoal family and Mermaid Junkies,

It’s been a bit of time, hasn’t it? How have you been? It’s been quite a whirlwind of a summer, fall and now winter… I am reminded on my morning walks or mid-afternoon strolls of all the bustling children back at school.

I remember those days with my dearest littles.

I have spent the last few months or so, dwelling at ‘Staffordshire Cottage’ cleaning, rearranging the few little antiques that I’ve come upon and several that my parents have sent along my way. I do love the old furniture that my parents have at Carter’s Cottage. Oh my, they’re splendid indeed.

I’ve also been painting quite a bit. I do enjoy being able to stay home as a full-time artist and make videos for my Youtube channel. I am living my dream. It’s actually come true.

I’m so appreciative that my BG has encouraged me to live my dream, and paint. It has been quite rewarding. To be able to contribute to our household expenses, makes me feel super bubbly inside.

Here’s a few of my latest little pieces.

img_7639

This was a beautiful little depiction of an adoption story. I had so much fun painting the little girl and the stork above.

img_7643

Here’s how my little paintings go out to post for their new homes. I infuse the paper with essential oil notes and burn the edges as if they’re an old pirate ship. I accompany each painting with a little shell that I have personally beachcombed throughout the years.

img_7587

This is a little painting about soul mates. I love the heart around them. It reminds me of Tasha Tudor. She always painted wreaths of sorts around her little artwork.

This is my BG, Oliver and myself. It’s our Christmas holiday card. For those of you who received one, I’m sure you recognized it.

I also spend most of my days with Mr. Oliver Twist. I even took him on a tiny field trip to my dear parents for the day. My mother had been hoping to meet him for quite some time. She tended to him while I spent time with my father working on a few woodworking projects I had wanted to make for Staffordshire Cottage.

It’s now the beautiful month of December and I’m wishing upon the dreamy stars for a snippet of cold weather very soon. I miss all my layers of lovely winter clothing.

Thank you for ‘wading’ around. I know it’s been a long while since I posted. I have been modifying several procedures in my company and I’ve had to learn  a lot more about computers.

I promise to post more often and start embedding my youtube videos as well.

Have a lovely evening.

Yours til my next swim,Rac

The Tides Are Turning & I Got A Bunny!

Hello there Mermaid Junkies,

How are you my lovelies? I hope this week is serving you well, and that you are enjoying your life immensely.

So here’s the dealio.

After major alterations, life changes, and much contemplation I’ve been going back and forth like waves bashing against the rocks trying to figure out a way to sort of transform my little blog here.

But…

IMG_2359

If you need me, I’m almost always here…and when I’m not

I’m usually with my beloved or working on some

hair-brained ideas that I constantly think of at 2 am.

Can one ever go wrong with linen and some driftwood? I think not.

After much thought, I’ve decided this blog is exactly where it should be. Just like my tag line in the header, “The way she ‘seas’ things.” is right on point. The only thing that will change is that I’ll be adding several more features to the blog, like embedding my Mermaid Junkie videos from YouTube, adding some DIY projects/videos and also adding my online store. My online store will be things I’ve made that are all coastal/ Mermaid inspired. Always… Y’all know me. Even though I have clients that are very conventional and like their design that way, I will always fair on the natural side of my gypsy spirit and be an unconventional designer.

I think of all the waves that have taken place recently, I am so much more accepting and appreciative of my spirit and the way I am as a woman. I do believe that with so many people consumed with appearances, competitiveness and trying to stay ahead of the game, I can truthfully say I love where I am at. Right here. Right now. This very minute.

Oh and for you darlings who couldn’t resist waiting for my vlog about house bunnies, without further ado…

Meet Oliver Twist, my house bunny.

IMG_3054

I’m working on a vlog post about all the treasure troves of wisdom when it comes to having a pet bunny. I hope you’ll swim on back later.

And for now, Mermaid Junkies, I hope you are having a pleasant day and as always…

I’m yours til my next swim, Love Rock

How To Stay Propeller Focused

I’d like to tackle the subject of staying focused since Ive always struggled with this.

I’m a Pisces (maybe that has nothing to do with it), but Pisces seem to have a dreamy, flighty imaginative imagination and staying focused is a toughie for me.

Do you struggle with this? You spend an hour scheduling your weekly events, compiling a “to do” list, and then realize “oh crap” I didn’t get half of these things done!

What we focus on propels everything.

When we have too many choices or decisions that have to be made, Science has proven we will opt for none.

Water has a significant different refractive index to air, and this affects the focusing of the eyes. Animals eyes are adapted to either underwater or air vision and do not focus properly when in the other environment. There is a lens of the fishes eye’s called the crystalline lens. They’re extremely convex and their refractive indices are the highest of all animals.

FIN FOCUS ON FEWER

As a Mermaid, I had to have laser focus on only three things which was my air, eyesight, and performance.

If I had tried to focus on my mersisters, costumes, a gator swimming up behind me, etc. I would have missed my cues, messed up the show, and most likely drown.

Here are 3 things that will help you keep focused:

1. Stop Skimming

If I were to have exerted my energy by looking around at the animal life in the river, worried about the gator behind me, watching my mersisters perform, etc. I would have exhausted my energy and caused my body anxiety. When you swim and perform and are holding your breath, the more movement will exhaust your lungs at a much more rapid pace and you will become dizzy. That’s what happens when we start looking around at what other people are doing, looking at social media incessantly, surfing the internet, consuming, or multi-tasking. We lose focus and that in the end will create a lower self-worth for us individually. When we focus on others, it creates self-doubt and self-love dissipates gradually; like air loss.

2. Define Your Mermaid Manifesto

It’s vital that you have created your mission, and set your intentions for what you’d like your life to look like. What kind of life do you see for yourself? How do you want to live every day?

Everything else gets a NO!

3. Say YES to the Silence of the Deep

Think of the ocean and at the top of the ocean there are waves and tides and lots of movement. That’s all the distractions in your life. But when you sink to the depths of the ocean there is nothing but silence. That’s where the resolve and calmness come in. You can focus on the important things in your life. The things that deserve your attention. Say NO to everything else for awhile. This will help you to check it against your mission. Ask yourself, “Should I invest in this?’

Most people don’t prioritize deeply enough. They stay afloat on the surface of the ocean and their internal compass guides them away from their focus; their mission.

Do not be a person that is a product of your environment and moods. It only takes 20 percent of your activities to produce 80 percent of the results you’re after.

I hope this has been helpful, and as always I’m yours til my next swim…
