A Skettle Of Fish, Pottering, And Musings At Staffordshire Cottage

My dear friends,

Pour some tea and let us have a wee visit. I made myself a bowl of porridge with some cottage cheese and honey. I also made a cup of English breakfast black tea. Let's have a go.
Meet Ms Merry Thistlewood!

This is a photo of our new little rabbit. This is the picture sent to me from the darling girl Brianna that I met at the tea room. We began chatting in between my book reading and immediately knew she was an ol' kindred spirit. Of course, she was intrigued by my dear Oliver and began explaining she has a sweet pet rabbit as well, but that she needed to find a new home for her. She will be going to college pretty soon and won't have much time.

Has that ever happened to you? You ask {God, Universe, Infinite Intelligence} for something and you know it will be answered. I precisely wanted a rabbit neutered and a girl for Oliver to have a pal.

She's a bouncer and very friendly. We named her Merry Thistlewood. Merry, is short for Merrymaid and Thistlewood was the name of a mentor of Beatrix Potters when she was a young woman.

Do you know what kind of bunny she is? I'm not sure.
I Love Ewe! I have such delightful developments in our forever home process.

I spent the last two days disembowelling the old carpet from our bedroom. I woke up last week and the entire floor was drenched in water. We have a foundation leak, and this my dear friends is a definite affirmation of the universe working things for my good.  I must confess I am happy about it. Let me explain. I had wanted to sell the cottage and find us forever at home. I want a property and a little old house that I can turn into a stone cottage. This is my dream.

I had been wanting the carpet to come out, as I had previously explained in an older post, but didn't want to push the issue too much. I also wanted to move and sell this home so we can have a lot of property. I am a country girl at heart.

The leak caused Jeffrey to reevaluate us from staying here as so many things are happening. The leak is going to be a catastrophe to repair. Two Tizzy Birds and one stone. I got the carpet out, and now we are moving.
That is where the sheep photos present themselves. I started reading up on sheep, and when we move we'll be getting some Florida Cracker sheep of our very own! Can you believe it! It's a dream come true. My mother called me this morning, and we were chatting about selling the cottage. I told her I want some property and an old little home.

She said, " Raquel, so and so (my mother knows everyone in my old little hometown) has an old 100-year-old home with a tin roof that was gutted years ago, and the owners had great intentions but never did anything with it. It's located on many acres and has a big lake in the back. I'll take pictures when I go tomorrow to look at it.

The book I'm devouring presently.

I am still pinching myself about the sheep. We are going to get about 5 to 7 and have sheep for pets.
Here is a picture minus the big area rug I found today at the charity shop. The lamp is so sweet at 8 dollars. I love that the base lights up. The little table is an antique that was 5 dollars. I am going to strip it and stain it dark walnut and add an antique glass knob I have been holding onto for quite some time. It will be perfect. I will also be staining the shoe rack a dark walnut. I love the olive green velvet roll pillow. It has a down fill and was 2 dollars. A little designer trick is to buy ugly pillows with down fill. Even if you find a repulsive pillow, but the insert is down feather, and it's cheap, buy it. Down fills are pricey, so when you come across them at the charity shop, take advantage of it. You can always sew a new cover.
Oh, my stars! Have you ever heard of cell food? I call it the fountain of youth. My beloved and I are amazed. Jeffrey used to use it for years, but they stopped making it in small batches, and the formula went array. Just recently the company said they went back to the original method and it is like it once was. Swim {here} to learn the benefits. It has literally changed my life.
 A few little bits and bobs of the cottage. Mermaids are swimming everywhere. {smile}

This hangs on a shelf in our little bathroom. All the little treasures I found at Clearwater beach on our wedding day.

I shall write again soon.

Most affably yours til my next swim, Raquelxxx

  1. I'm so happy for you and your upcoming move. That's exciting! We have chosen stone for our forever home also. We just need to find the property to build it on 😊 Miss Merry T is adorable. I hope she and Oliver get along sweetly.

    1. Thank you so much. I am truly excited, but always open to all adventures as you never know what {The Universe, Infinite Intelligence, God} has in store for us. I lead with my desires and know I will get everything exactly the way I want. Ya know. Sometimes we have visions, and the other visions are 1000 times better than we thought they could be. Aren't stone cottages the best? I wouldn't even mind a wood home with a stone fireplace. I love you and I am in love with your new home too. Raquelxxx
