Little Women And Mermaidling Request Day!

EXCITING NEWS!

You may not know this about me, but a few years ago when I picked up my paintbrush, I hadn't touched it for over 36 years. In fact, I had been so out of touch with myself that I quite literally forgot that I even knew how to draw. With this newfound rediscovery, and a follow my heart attitude, I wanted to see If I could paint and sell my art. A dream of mine since I was a young girl. I had always dreamt of being an author and Illustrator. I started out using a free watercolour kit that I had leftover from one of my kids' supply stash and some index cards. I started painting a little farmer boy with braces, a row of pumpkins in the background with a Jack Russell Terrier at the farmer's side. To my amazement It sold. { Maybe it was more pity she took on me than my skills, but still. It made my heart beat like a kettle drum!} I then opened a little Etsy shop and began selling pieces I would paint. I was shocked and also ecstatic because people were actually buying them. It created within me a small spark of self-confidence. I then decided to create one day of the week that I would offer to paint little custom pieces for folks that may want to memorialize a moment in their life. It really took off and each Thursday I have been painting Little Women and Mermaidlings ever sense.

I post on my Facebook fan page every Thursday for custom painting orders. It was and always will be a unique experience to paint for you.

LITTLE WOMEN & MERMAIDLING DAY!

So have you ever wondered where I came up with the request day names, Mermaidlings and Little Women? Allow me to share it with you. I chose Little Women after my nickname, which was given to me from my father when I was small and lived in Germany. My mother and I moved there when I was several months old. My daddy saw me for the first time and said I looked like a "Little Woman." I suppose it's because he hadn't seen me for some time and I had grown quite significantly. Little Woman has remained my nickname since then, so I thought it was quite charming to name request day after myself. And truthfully It reminds me of one of my favourite books of all time, Little Women! I surely believe you guessed straight away I was going to say that, didn't you? And the name "Mermaidling" came about because not all of my customers want me to paint them as a Little Woman, and also because I envision a smaller childlike Mermaid, to be called a Mermaidling. Hence, a Mermaidling it is for my seafaring friends of the world. {Smile}

Each little painting is 4.5" x 6" and $23 sand dollars. Just like my hero Beatrix Potter, every small portrait is in sepia ink and painted with watercolours. I then wash the paper with seaweed, flower tinctures and floral notes that I personally created from my garden here at Carter's Cottage.

My saltwater has been charged with crystals of rose quartz and moonstone. I believe in sending my paintings into the world with a little magic. It adds a touch of love to all those that collect it.

Along with each painting, you'll receive a hand-chosen beach combed shell.

This is of a little picture that I painted of Wren with her pet rabbit. This was such a popular painting that I sold 16 prints within a few hours. Every time I have it printed, I immediately sell out.

I believe that is why art either sells or doesn't. Have you ever wondered about that? Why some art sells rapidly, and some art can't be given away for free?

My desire to understand this subject matter became quite interesting to me after I began living the law of attraction practices. I started noticing that when I would get up and head to my treasure room to paint, that sometimes I would paint up several favourite pieces and they wouldn't sell. However, then on other days when I would place my joy and happiness at the forefront and paint from a place of fun, my paintings sold like hotcakes.

I then caught wind of a few videos from Abraham Hicks about art and authorship. I knew right then, that to have a successful art business, I would make it my highest priority to paint only while feeling free and happy. If I happen to be wobbly some days, I will rest or do something completely different than paint. I know It will end up going into the rubbage pile If I paint from a place of disconnect. It's the same with musicians. Think about some artists that have written songs in a few minutes, and they become billboard hits, whereas some artists spend years in the studio making an album and it flops. I know now, It's because they aren't aligned. Also, some folks can be out of alignment and write music of discord. And guess what happens? Those souls that are feeling the same vibrational friction in their lives will find that kind of music. All things are vibrational. This is a good indicator as to where you're lining up energetically by how you feel while seeing a painting, or listening to a song.
I believe all things are energetic. I am an artist that lives in the flow, and If I am happiest while painting, I know my art will sell. I trust and believe in vibration. When an artist and recipient are vibrationally lined up, they energetically dance with one another. That's my belief anyway.
Three pets of a dear friend that wanted some whimsical art to hang in her tea room. She hangs these every year at Christmas time.

This was a newly married soul mate couple and wanted a little painting to remember their first union.

My dear friend Beth from Patina White. This was a memoriam from her two pets that had passed.

A little girls adoption story with her two puppies.

A grandmother and her grandson. They have a unique tradition at Halloween storytime.  This depicts that moment for them.

My dear friend Ashley, The Mermaid Lady with her darling husband while on an underwater photoshoot.

A sweet friend with her pet kitty.

A sweet little mermaid that loves to sing.

A painting I did for my mother on Mother's Day. She absolutely loves squirrels.

A sweet mermaid holding a heart of her beloveds name and banner of the date they were to marry

A little woman holding a candle.

A Valentine for a granddaughter.

Do you believe in energetic vibration when it comes to creating and selling art?

Most affably yours til my next swim, Raquelxxx
